Smiles for Smiles is a program I created as a way to give back to children who are born with the challenges of a cleft lip.
In 2004, our oldest son, Josh, was born with a cleft lip. We were surprised and unprepared, yet so overwhelmed with love for that little gapped smile. At 4 months old, Josh had cleft lip repair surgery at Children's Hospital Boston and after a short recovery period was able to eat and drink with ease.
Through my photography, I aim to capture genuine smiles that people will treasure forever. For some children born with cleft lips, these smiles that we sometimes take for granted, may never be possible and their path to having their cleft lips and palates repaired is not so easy. My goal is to help these children get their smiles back through my Smiles for Smiles Program.
I will donate a percentage of all session fees to the amazing Smile Train organization. www.smiletrain.org
The Smile Train is a non-profit organization that provides free cleft surgery to hundreds of thousands of poor children in developing countries. The cost of this surgery is only $250 per child.
I believe together we can bring out the smiles of all of these beautiful children :)
